The Story Behind the Brand
Perfect Pineapple wraps are pre-sewn head wraps created by Charron Martin in her grandmother's basement. The wraps came about from a scarf that her grandmother Eunice gave her that knotted up and she could never untie. Charron would wrap it and wear it to bed every day for years until one day she wrapped it around her head in a way that created a cool look. Grabbing some nice printed fabric she recreated the scarf and started wearing them not only as a protective style solution, and a way to preserve her curls based on the "pineapple'ing" methodology but also as a fashion accessory. After tons of inquires about where she had gotten her wraps from she decided to start selling them. She told her grandmother about the idea and her grandmother encouraged her to go for it! So she did, and started the business, on her grandmothers sewing machine in her grandmother basement, 1 year ago.
Eunice, Charron's grandmother wore the wraps from time to time as she suffered from cancer. She helped Charron think through parts of the business as she was a creative spirit herself but was not able to continue to help due to her illness. Heartbreakingly Eunice died Sept 11, 2017 a day after Perfect Pineapple's debuted on the runway. Charron was able to tell her about the show, although she was unresponsive, she listened. Eunice was energetic and full of life and that is what this brand is about! Although the art wrapping is most prevalent in African heritage, Perfect Pineapple wraps are made for all women & men of every culture, for reasons that range from working out, to stepping out!
I dedicate this business and everything creative I do to my grandmother Eunice Brown. A woman with an unmeasurable amount of class, style, creativity, fun, positive energy & love, who always believed in me and my dreams. I love you always. You are missed beyond words.
